Mexico’s Inflation to Exceed Government Forecast: Mexican Finance Minister Pedro Aspe, in Venezuela for a meeting with his Latin American counterparts, said inflation for 1992 will likely run between 10% and 11%, the government news agency Notimex reported. Aspe’s comment was the first time the government has publicly acknowledged that inflation will likely exceed the ambitious 9.7% official forecast for the year. Inflation came in at 18.8% in 1991. It was running at triple digits in the late 1980s.
