JOURNAL REBORN: Junior high history teacher William A. Taylor of Fullerton had good reason to get up at 4 a.m. Monday to call London. His telephone bid of 6,000 ($11,700) bought a 700-page unpublished manuscript of British journalist Thomas Gunn’s eyewitness account of the Civil War. . . . “I’ve read about 60 pages of it; it’s worth every penny,” says Taylor, who may have it published. Taylor, a collector, also owns Gen. George Custer’s desk and revolver.
