LOS ANGELES : Funding Accelerated to Build Metro Red Line

Share

Seeking to support the economic recovery of areas most heavily damaged by rioting earlier this year, the California Transportation Commission agreed Tuesday to speed up $106 million in construction funding for the second segment of the Metro Red Line.

The money has the potential to create an additional 2,300 construction jobs over the next two years, said Neil Peterson, executive director of the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission.

One branch of the Red Line’s second segment will extend west from MacArthur Park under Wilshire Boulevard to Western Avenue. The other branch will go north under Vermont Avenue and west under Hollywood Boulevard.
