More Changes in Air Fares: Delta Air Lines Inc. said it will raise domestic fares 4.4% above mid-April levels, matching the increase in rates announced a day earlier by rival American Airlines. Trans World Airlines Inc. canceled a 10% fare hike scheduled to take effect today, saying it will consider following American’s lead as well. American Airlines, owned by Dallas-based AMR Corp., said that effective July 7 it will return fares to April 9 levels plus another 4.4% to compensate for rising fuel costs. The American announcement prompted Northwest Airlines to postpone a planned 10% hike. America West Airlines Inc. canceled plans for an identical move.
