Alhambra : Assessment Rates Increased

Share

The City Council has increased assessments in several areas to pay for street cleaning and lighting, graffiti removal, and state-mandated waste reduction.

The increases affect homeowners in the Public Work Maintenance and Improvement District, which includes downtown, the Auto Row area along Main Street and Valley Boulevard, and commercial property along Auto Row.

The assessments will generate $3.6 million.

The assessment rate for a single-family home or condominium will increase 9%, or $6.85, to $81.30 a year. The income will pay for street lighting and sweeping, landscaping, graffiti removal, state-mandated waste-reduction measures, and to retire bonds.

The income expected from the 7.9% increase in commercial zones will pay for landscaping and street lighting, including the city’s annual Christmas light display.
