SANTA CLARITA : Model Will Predict Traffic Circulation

A computer model to predict the effect of future development on traffic circulation in the Santa Clarita area has been approved by Los Angeles County supervisors.

The new model, approved Tuesday, will provide a glimpse of potential “hot spots,” county civil engineer Bruce Whitehead said. It was needed to reconcile differences between similar models previously commissioned by both the county and the city of Santa Clarita, he said.

Whitehead attributed those differences to varying interpretations of where future highway routes would be placed and the slower-growth policies of the city.

The cost of the model to be prepared by DKS Associates of Los Angeles, estimated at between $100,000 and $125,000, is to be split between the county and city.
