Sierra Madre : Fee District for Parking Lot
- Share via
A four-tiered assessment plan to maintain the renovated Mariposa parking lot behind Sierra Madre Boulevard was proposed Tuesday.
If approved by the City Council, the assessment district will raise $10,000 annually to cover costs for energy, water, and sweeping and landscaping of the lot, which was renovated at a cost of $500,000 in 1990.
Businesses would be assessed by the square foot, depending on nearness to the lot and parking needs. Assessments could range from $5.53 to $1,777.33 annually. However, the council said it will also consider establishing a $200 ceiling.
Businesses affected by the new district have been notified by mail, and the council will receive public comments July 14.
