Sierra Madre : More Budget Cuts Required

Share

The City Council unanimously approved a $4.52-million operating budget for 1992-93, requiring city staff to find an additional $45,000 in cuts before publishing the final budget for adoption July 14.

Some capital expenditures, including the acquisition of a new Fire Department command vehicle, have already been cut from the May preliminary budget.

Mayor Gary B. Adams said the city will have to further reduce services if the Legislature proceeds with a plan to take an estimated $660,000 from the city’s share of vehicle license fees and property taxes.

In spite of cuts, the new budget is up $100,000 from last year, primarily because of increased costs for employee benefits.
