THOUSAND OAKS : Study on Regional Issues Released
A Thousand Oaks research group has released final reports on a two-year study of political and environmental issues that face the Conejo Valley.
The Conejo Future Foundation’s Vision 2020 project was intended to study quality-of-life issues that affect the Conejo Valley, including transportation, housing, the environment, waste management, water and regional government.
Foundation officials gave no specific recommendations in the six 50-page reports.
On the issue of regional government, the foundation listed the pros and cons of nine proposals aimed at more closely linking Conejo Valley cities and unincorporated communities in Los Angeles and Ventura counties. Those options included moving the county line and creating a new county.
In waste management, the report listed options such as recycling to reduce the amount of garbage sent to landfills.
Copies of the report were sent to the cities of Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Agoura Hills and Calabasas, said Carolyn Kopp, the foundation’s president.
“I hope the decision makers give these options careful consideration,” she said.
The Vision 2020 Project cost an estimated $250,000 to $300,000.
