Glendale : Electricity Rates to Drop

Share

The City Council on Tuesday approved a settlement with the federal government on new rates to be paid for electricity produced at Hoover Dam in Nevada.

Revised rates, to become effective Oct. 1, will save about 80 cents on the monthly bill of a typical residence using 400 kilowatt hours of electricity, said Tommy Wu, power management administrator. Bills now average $32 to $34 per month, he said.

In a rare showing of unified force, Glendale joined 14 other power agencies and cities that helped build the Boulder Canyon Project in 1933 to argue for better rates than those charged to agencies and cities that did not participate in the original development, Glendale City Atty. Scott Howard said.
