POINT MUGU : Oxnard Man Dies in PCH Collision
An Oxnard man was killed in a traffic collision on Pacific Coast Highway at Sycamore Canyon Wednesday when the driver of another car drifted over the center line and struck his car head-on, authorities said.
Theo Theriault was pronounced dead at 6:40 p.m. in Ventura County Medical Center, said Deputy Coroner Zelmira Isaac. The cause of death appeared to be head and chest injuries, she said. An autopsy is scheduled for today to confirm the cause. The other driver, Cynthia Hobson of Oxnard, was reported in critical condition at the medical center. Hobson, 29, is pregnant, said a California Highway Patrol spokeswoman.
About 5:20 p.m., Theriault was driving a pickup truck home from El Segundo, where he had worked for the past 26 years, Isaac said.
As Theriault passed Sycamore Canyon south of Point Mugu, a compact car driven by Hobson drifted into his lane for unknown reasons and collided with his truck, Isaac said.
