Cardinal Mahony

I write this letter as one who works closely with Cardinal Roger Mahony on a day-to-day basis. The cardinal is a gifted leader of the church; a man of deep conviction rooted in the Gospel and in the Catholic faith. Like all great men of God, he also possesses human limitations; to politicize his decisions is a terrible distortion of the truth (series on Mahony, June 14-15). The cardinal’s ambition, as I have experienced it, is to serve God and to serve God well.
