Peluso Recalls Cheese: The Los Banos, Calif., company voluntarily recalled all of its cheese products after state tests disclosed Listeria bacteria in a sample of cotija cheese. That bacterium causes listeriosis, a sometimes fatal infection. As a precaution, the company notified its distributors last week to recall Don Francisco brand queso crema, queso do chico, panela and cotija cheese; Chontaleno de Freir brand whole milk cheese and Tomales Bay and Diana Supreme brands of teleme semisoft cheese. The bacteria were found during routine monthly sampling by the California Department of Food and Agriculture.
