Navy’s Tailhook Incident
If John Paul Jones, Stephen Decatur, David Farragut, George Dewey, William Sims, William Halsey and Chester Nimitz, all great American naval heroes, were alive today and saw the conduct and behavior of the modern-day Navy officers at the Tailhook convention, they would be embarrassed and deeply saddened. All the lives and ships lost in battles over two centuries of service to our nation mean very little if officers and men do not respect the rights and dignity of other people including women.
Operation Tailhook may not go down in history as a famous battle, but a very strong reminder to all in uniform that all men and women are created equal and must be treated as such.
