San Diego : Not Guilty Plea in Crossbow Shooting
A North Park man pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges of attempted murder in the shooting of his male lover with a crossbow.
Jesse Solis, 25, made his plea to Superior Court Judge Frederic L. Link, who scheduled a trial for Sept. 1.
Solis is charged with shooting 29-year-old Arthur Ekvall on June 8. During a preliminary hearing two weeks ago, Ekvall testified that he awoke with an “explosion” in his head and saw Solis loading another projectile into a crossbow.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Robert Hammes said Solis attempted to kill Ekvall because their relationship was about to end.
Solis remains in custody in lieu of $250,000 bail.
