Ray Middleton in ‘Annie’

John Raitt did not originate the male lead in “Annie Get Your Gun” on Broadway (“Raitt & Raitt: A Musical Partnership Long Time Coming,” July 7).

Ray Middleton co-starred opposite Ethel Merman and can be heard on the recent MCA CD of the original cast album.

John Raitt did the national tour with Mary Martin and later appeared opposite Martin in a TV version. They recorded their version in the mid-’50s for a Capitol LP, now out of print.
