FEEDING THE HOMELESS: A barbecue of hot dogs, pork and beans, rice and nacho chips will be held in Pershing Square for the homeless, today at noon, sponsored by two downtown Taco Bell restaurants.
POLICE OR DEPUTIES: The Long Beach City Council is expected to discuss whether to keep the Police Department or hire the Sheriff’s Department. The meeting begins at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Long Beach City Hall, 333 W. Ocean Blvd.
TRUSTEES MEETING: The Cal State University trustees will discuss the budget for the university system at 9 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the chancellor’s office, 400 Golden Shore in Long Beach.
CRIME TIPS: Pico Rivera officials will explain how to use toll-free hot lines and earn cash awards for anonymously reporting drug deals, graffiti tagging and other crimes. The meeting will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Smith Park auditorium at Rosemead Boulevard and Mines Avenue in Pico Rivera.
