Escondido Death

Share

The decision not to prosecute the person whose blow caused the death of Myron (Mike) Haag was recently defended in your letters column. Two letters were, predictably, from the district attorney’s office, and the third from a retired judge.

These three writers chose to credit the testimony of the perpetrator, who is alive and well-served by his version, and to ignore the reputation of the victim, who is dead and can’t give what may be the true version.

Rather than being courageous, as the writers suggest, the district attorney’s decision seems facile and craven.
