BMW Mulls Buying Rolls-Royce: Germany’s BMW is interested in buying Britain’s troubled prestige car maker Rolls-Royce, a British newspaper said. The Sunday Times quoted BMW Chairman Eberhard von Kuenheim as saying the deal could go forward if the price is right. “Rolls-Royce needs a lot of investment for new models and retooling at the Crewe plant,” he said. “This could run into hundreds of millions of pounds.” The Sunday Times said engineering group Vickers PLC was believed to be close to a decision on the future of its Rolls-Royce and Bentley car division. Last year BMW denied speculation that it was interested in taking over Rolls-Royce.
