General Electric Co. said its second-quarter profit rose 8% to $1.216 billion because of double-digit growth in its financial services, power systems and NBC network divisions.

Net earnings equaled $1.42 a share, compared to $1.30 a share in the second quarter of 1991. Revenue totaled $15.4 billion, compared to $14.8 billion a year earlier.
