3 Charged in Singer’s Death

Three men were charged in Glendale Municipal Court Tuesday in the strangulation death of a Salvadoran folk singer who was kidnaped from the Hollywood restaurant where he performed.

The body of Javier Ernesto Luna, 26, was discovered in Brand Park in Glendale on June 7, shortly after he was abducted.

Luna worked as a janitor at an adjacent Laundromat, but he regularly performed at the Nuevo Salvadoran restaurant and had “quite a following,” Glendale Police Investigator Larry Cobb said.

Milton Estuardo Medina, 22, and Carlos Herminio Escobar, 27, both of Hollywood, were arrested last weekend after restaurant patrons identified them as Luna’s abductors and provided a description of their car. Romeo Enrique Aguilar, 23, another suspect, remained at large.
