The Rev. Reuben A. Sheares II, 58, a former national officer of the United Church of Christ. Sheares, pastor of the Congregational Church of Park Manor in Chicago, held a number of executive posts with the United Church of Christ before returning to parish ministry in 1988 with pulpits in Southern California and Chicago. From 1973 to 1988, he was executive director of the 1.6-million-member church’s Office for Church Life and Leadership in New York City. In Olympia Fields, Ill., on Saturday after a heart attack.
