WASHINGTON —
Former Supreme Court Justice William J. Brennan Jr., 86, was taken to Bethesda Naval Medical Center in nearby Maryland on Thursday and is undergoing tests, a hospital spokesman said.
Brennan, who retired from the court in 1990, “is under observation and is undergoing some tests,” Lt. Cmdr. Bill Clyde said. He would not give details of Brennan’s condition, but called it good.
Brennan was treated for a cancerous tumor in his throat in 1978 and suffered a mild stroke in 1979.
