LOS ANGELES : Supervisors Extend Pension Probe Deadline

Share

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors this week gave independent investigators a seven-week extension to finish a report on controversial changes in county employee pensions.

The supervisors voted 3 to 0 to allow investigators to delay their presentation until Sept. 15.

A spokesman for Supervisor Gloria Molina, who missed the meeting because she was attending the Democratic National Convention, said the vote was a deliberate effort to make an “end run around Gloria,” who has pushed for a speedy hearing.

But Supervisor Mike Antonovich said he sought the delay because an attorney for the County Employees Retirement Assn. could not have his legal opinion completed by the July 28 hearing date.
