Church Chat

Share

For a number of years, it has become “hard to draw the line between church and entertainment,” as your headline states (Film Clips, July 5). And it is for this very reason that I have never watched those “church programs” in which the participants mug for the television cameras.

I don’t think the church was intended to be a den of confusion. Whatever happened to the place where one could go to escape the maddening frenzy of this world for a while--a place serene enough for renewing one’s peace of mind and spirit? A place for singing hymns of praise and thanksgiving, and not some reworked ‘60s show tunes?

Church choirs requesting Walt Disney Co. to rework the music from “Sister Act” is just another example of the masses confusing fantasy and reality!
