Some BCCI Depositers May Get Reimbursed: A plan announced last week would provide small depositors of BCCI in Hong Kong with reimbursement of their losses in less than three months, the collapsed bank’s liquidators said. They said depositors of Bank of Credit and Commerce Hong Kong Ltd. who had less than $12,820 in their accounts will receive their claims in full if the plan is approved by more than 50% of the bank’s large depositors. “It is extremely rare in any bank liquidation for small depositors to be repaid in full and so quickly,” said Hong Kong Financial Secretary Hamish Macleod. He said full payment to small creditors would not harm large creditors.
