O.C. PLATFORM : Car-Pooling Beckons

I would welcome anything that comes close to breaking up the freeway logjam. And while the car-pool lane seems to have had very little impact on the conditions on our crowded freeways, it’s still better than nothing.

Sure, I bristle every time a car zooms past me in the car-pool lane. But as fast as my anger comes, my realization takes over, telling me that I, too, could be in that lane if I only took some time to find out if there might be someone I could share a ride with.

I know there are plenty of people who insist that they have to ride solo. But in most cases, laziness seems to be the guiding light.

The good old days of uncrowded freeways are only a memory. Everyone must realize that anything--including the car-pool lane--is better than nothing. We must all make an effort to at least find out if we too can zoom by those poor unfortunate people who are stuck in commuter traffic.
