Students Meet to Define, Address Youth Issues

Share

Eight San Gabriel Valley high school students are among 60 who are in the middle of a two-week residential program at Occidental College to define the issues, concerns and problems that face the teen-age population in Los Angeles and steps to address them.

The students are acquiring skills in negotiation and strategic planning and meeting with members of police, health, labor, refugee, welfare and political organizations.

The program, sponsored by the college as a result of the Los Angeles riots, ends July 31. Its findings and recommendations will be presented to the Los Angeles City Council.
