A man’s cremated remains, found on a shelf in the police property room, have finally found a resting place--10 years after his death.

Officials at a church and a funeral home called police Tuesday to donate a resting place and urn for Joseph Herman Keeder of Punxsutawney, Pa. His remains had been in the property room for five years.

Keeder was cremated in Pennsylvania in 1982. Later, his two sons moved to Tulsa and took the ashes with them. When they moved again, they left the ashes behind and their landlord turned them over to police in 1987. A detective discovered the ashes last week in the property room.

Police were unable to locate the brothers, who apparently moved to Florida.
