CBS Affiliates Threaten to Drop News Shows: Restless CBS affiliates threatened to replace CBS News shows with Cable News Network and other programming in response to CBS’ plans to drastically cut the fees it pays affiliates to carry network programming. In the most troublesome sign yet of the deteriorating relations between CBS and its affiliates over the network compensation issue, some stations said they will invite CNN to make presentations for possibly replacing “The CBS Evening News With Dan Rather.”
