Pope John Paul II, expected to leave the hospital this week after an operation to remove a benign tumor, will make his usual noon address today from his hospital for the second time, Vatican sources said Friday.

The sources said the 72-year-old Pope will record in advance his noon “Angelus” prayer, blessing and address from Rome’s Gemelli hospital, where doctors removed the tumor from his intestine this month.

The address will be broadcast by Vatican Radio to St. Peter’s Square, where he normally addresses crowds from a window of his apartments in the Vatican’s Apostolic Palace.
