Arletty; French Film Actress, Published Autobiography

Arletty, 94, dark-haired factory worker who became a legendary actress in French films. Born in a Paris suburb on May 15, 1898, Leonie Bethiat worked in an armaments factory to help support her family. She was “discovered” by artists when she frequented their favorite cafes, and began her career under the name Arletty as a model and chorus girl.
