Boeing to Help Set Up Testing Facility: Taiwan said it will establish a testing and training operation with the help of Boeing Commercial Airplane Group. It will be the first such facility overseas that the U.S. company has helped set up. The quality assurance laboratory will help local parts manufacturers meet the standards of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration. The accord between the Seattle-based airplane maker and the state-funded Industrial Technology Research Institute is a sign of Boeing’s need to think globally if it is to sell more aircraft. It also comes against the backdrop of disagreements surrounding Taiwanese investment in a Boeing competitor, McDonnell Douglas Corp.
