San Diego Rep Director Resigns

Adrian Stewart, managing director of the San Diego Repertory Theatre since 1988, has left his post.

Stewart presided over the financially troubled company’s recent fiscal crises, beginning with the October, 1990, “Keep the Lights On” campaign to raise money to complete the season. That season was completed, but the next one also proved a challenge to complete. The company still continues with a $400,000 deficit.

“The theater and I, by mutual agreement, have decided to go our separate ways,” Stewart said of his Monday departure. “I don’t think it’s any secret that the last few years have been very demanding. These are very difficult times that take their toll on a manager. This is very, very difficult.”
