Dan Quayle’s Stand on Abortion
As a pro-life parent, I applaud Vice-President Dan Quayle’s answer that he would support his daughter, if she as an adult chose to have an abortion. The question was not if he would encourage her to have an abortion, but whether he would support his daughter. I would have no respect for him if he had answered “No, and I would have locked her out of my life if she did have an abortion.”
His answer does not mean that he has changed his stand on abortion, it only means that he would support his adult daughter in a time of need, and not necessarily agree with her decision.
In fact this is very much in line with his family values campaign, even if the adult daughter’s decision would not be.
