Foundation for a House
For the past few months we have been overwhelmed with the news that the California State University system (Northridge in particular) is in distressing financial trouble. Tuition is going up, the number of available classes are going down, part-time instructors are being terminated, and many recently tenured professors are being told that they are also candidates for termination.
So what does the California State University Board of Trustees do about this problem? They approve a $134,800 salary for the incoming Cal State Northridge president, the highest salary of any CSU president.
The new president will also enjoy a $2,200-per-month housing allowance and a new house that will be built for her using “private funds” raised by CSUN officials.
Is it my imagination, or is something genuinely wrong with this picture?
