SIMI VALLEY : Project to Close Part of Erringer Road

Share

The section of Erringer Road that crosses the Southern Pacific railroad tracks will be closed for four days, beginning Tuesday, so that a rubberized street crossing can be installed, Simi Valley officials said.

During the construction period, city officials advise motorists to cross the tracks on other north-south streets, such as 1st Street or Sycamore Drive.

The rubberized crossing will provide a smoother ride for motorists on Erringer and four other streets where similar installations are scheduled this summer, said Bill Golubics, city traffic engineer.

The other crossings scheduled for upgrading are 1st Street, Aug. 11-14; Sycamore Drive, Aug. 18-21; Sequoia Avenue, Aug. 25-28; and Tapo Street, Sept. 1-4. The work is being done by Southern Pacific, which requires that the crossings be closed until the work is completed, Golubics said.

City Engineer George T. Berg said the city will pay about $470,000 for the rubberized crossings and for improvements on train warning systems on the five streets.
