Running Light: In their quest for safety, nighttime joggers and bikers don highway-worker gear such as bright-colored shirts and fluorescent orange vests. So why not just wear pulsating warning lights?

The Cygo-Lite, manufactured by SSB Design Inc. in Irvine, weighs only two ounces and clips on at the waist. The light resembles an ordinary bike reflector (and can be used for that purpose), but it can be seen more than half a mile away at night.

The suggested retail price is $14.95, or $16.95 for a deluxe model. It is available at most bicycle shops.
