NORTH COUNTY : Robberies Suspect Is in Custody
A man suspected of robbing seven North County banks was in custody Tuesday, federal authorities said.
Mark Dana Monroe, 34, who is unemployed and whose residence was not released, was arrested about 5 p.m. Monday at a motel in Escondido, FBI Special Agent Joseph C. Johnson said. Monroe was being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in downtown San Diego.
He is suspected of robbing the Security Pacific Bank in the 600 block of Lomas Santa Fe Drive in Solana Beach on May 22 and of committing six other robberies in North County, Johnson said.
