LONG BEACH : Defendant in High School Club Murder Case Named
Authorities on Tuesday identified a 17-year-old youth accused of murdering a teen-ager who had violated the loyalty oath of a militaristic club at Polytechnic High School in Long Beach.
Bryan M. Davis, who faces trial as an adult, pleaded not guilty to a murder charge stemming from the Feb. 1 slaying of Alexander Giraldo, 16, a Polytechnic student and alleged member of the Ace of Spades. A judge ruled last week that Davis should be tried as an adult but his name was kept confidential until Tuesday.
San Pedro Municipal Court Judge William R. Weisman scheduled a preliminary hearing for Aug. 18. Davis is in custody at Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall in Downey, his lawyer said. Davis and three other teen-agers are charged with murdering Giraldo, who police said violated the Ace of Spades’ loyalty oath by informing them that he and another member had burglarized some cars. The accused teen-agers were either members of the Ace of Spades or influenced by the club, police and club members said.
