Boeing, Machinists to Begin Talks: Negotiations are beginning on a three-year contract between Boeing Co. and its largest union--the International Assn. of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. Unlike three years ago when machinists struck the firm in part because of too much work, staying employed now tops the list of workers’ concerns. In coming weeks, company and union representatives will split into work groups to tackle issues such as pay, benefits and safety before overall negotiations get underway in September. The contract expires Oct. 3.
