Multilingual Ballot Bill

Share

Congress has done it again! It has mandated a new program, but has refused to provide funding. I am talking about the multilingual ballot measure.

The measure requires counties to provide voter materials and ballots in more foreign languages. For San Diego County, it means the addition of Spanish language voting materials.

Proponents argue that this new law will bring new voters to participate in the democratic process. Maybe it will, but at what cost? I believe a common language--English--will unite us. This multilingual balloting will further divided us into subgroups.
