A local landmark, St. James Episcopal Church in Newport Beach, was recently repainted by volunteers from the Southern California Chapter of the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America. It was the 1992 Community Service project for the group. The church made a donation to the chapter’s general fund to help defray some of the project’s cost.
The project included sanding, sealing, reglazing, refinishing, prepping, priming, water-blasting, waterproofing and painting of the 47-year-old church and bell tower. Twenty contractors provided 100 men to work on the project. Associate members donated all materials and equipment.
Worship services at the church are at 7:30, 9 and 10:45 a.m. on Sunday at 3209 Via Lido. Information: (714) 675-0210.
