Expulsions Put Private Schools in a New Light

Share

The article, “Students Dismissed Over Sins of Parents” (July 30), is poorly titled. Since when is it a “sin” for a parent to be concerned about their child learning in a safe environment?

Public school teachers united to lobby for a year against the voucher initiative, saying among other issues that private schools would not be accountable to the public via school boards and that teachers could be terminated for no valid reason.

The children of 13 parents who raise concerns about carcinogens at a private school are expelled and a teacher and principal are fired for the same reason.

The real sin is to assume quality education can be found at costs (of about) $1,740 per child. Sorry, but in this case, the parents got exactly what they paid for.
