Health Care Reform

Let’s get some facts straight about Bush and Clinton health care proposals. First, both would restrict choice of doctor, because both would emphasize use of HMOs. Second, Bill Clinton would extend coverage to all Americans; George Bush’s plan would leave several million uncovered. Third, the public insurance section of Clinton’s plan could be much like Medicare: government would pay claims, not perform the services. If Bush thinks that’s terrible, then logic would compel him also to call for repeal of Medicare.
