How Now, Brown Cow: Marisa Tomei, who played a gum-cracking Brooklynite opposite Joe Pesci in the film comedy “My Cousin Vinny,” is surprised at the smirking reaction she is getting for taking on Shakespeare. “Am I overreacting?” she asked in Monday’s New York Times. “They have no idea what I’ve been doing onstage for years. I wouldn’t be doing this if I weren’t ready for it,” said Tomei, who will star as Adriana in “The Comedy of Errors” in Central Park. “This is not ‘Yo, Adriana.’ I feel my diction is very clear and my enunciation is sharp.” She also noted that her mother is an English teacher and that “she and my dad took me to the theater, to the ballet, and made sure my diction was standard.”
