UAW Workers May Strike at GM Plant: About 4,200 auto workers at General Motors’ Lansing, Mich., assembly plant are to hold a strike authorization vote Wednesday that could bring production of some of GM’s best-selling cars to a halt. The United Auto Workers union in Detroit said members of Local 602 are concerned about health issues, assembly line speed and subcontracting at the body fabrication plant. The facility builds Pontiac Grand Am, Oldsmobile Achieva and Buick Skylark bodies for assembly at another Lansing plant.
