Share

The case of twins accused of thefts from upscale art galleries around Los Angeles ended Monday, when one surrendered to authorities to begin his 16-month term in a state prison, and the other was given a six-month jail term and placed on three years probation.

Paul Doremus, 40, of West Hollywood had earlier pleaded no contest to charges of grand theft and receiving stolen property relating to the attempted sale of stolen prints. The brothers were accused of posing as well-heeled collectors as they frequented galleries and auction houses where thefts occurred. Judge Frederick J. Lower Jr. ordered him to the state prison in Wasco.

Lower sentenced Kevin Doremus, convicted of attempted grand theft, to six months in County Jail, three years probation and mandatory psychological counseling.
