Track Trots Out Free Admission for Communities

Throughout the Del Mar racing season, the track designates free community admission days for area residents. With proof of residency, such as a driver’s license, residents of the specified community are given free admission to the infield, grandstand and paddock areas. Patrons in these areas are invited to bring beach chairs, coolers and food but no glass containers.

Otherwise, grandstand reserved seats are $3.50 and general admission is $2.50. Active-duty military are admitted free; on weekdays seniors are charged $1. Parking is $2; $3 for preferred parking. Gates at Del Mar open at noon weekdays and 11:30 on weekends. First post is at 2 p.m. The track is closed Tuesdays. Racing continues through Sept. 16.

Weekend handicapping seminars are free, as are Wednesday night jazz concerts in the infield’s Pacific Pavilion.
