Glendora : Library to Get More Help

Share

The City Council last week approved hiring three part-time library workers.

Annette Whistler, president of the Library Board of Trustees, said the library would have to shorten its hours and close the microcomputer and typing rooms without more workers. The council approved the hiring 3 to 2, with Councilwoman Lois Shade and Councilman Larry Glenn opposed.

Shade said the city is in greater need of police officers. But Councilman Marshall Mouw said hiring a police officer would cost the city $70,000 a year, while Mayor Bob Kuhn calculated the three part-time positions would cost $4,000 a year.
